Consumer reporter Chris Chmura joined FOX 13 in April, 2007. His feature stories, which offer advice for saving money, avoiding scams, and traveling smart, are distributed to FOX TV stations nationwide.
Chris came to FOX after working as a reporter for WFLA-TV in Tampa, The Associated Press in Washington, D.C., and the Conus TV News Service in both Tallahassee and Washington, D.C. He began his career at WCJB-TV in Gainesville, where he occasionally served as weekend weather forecaster.
Chris is a native of Dunedin and a graduate of Dunedin High School. He later received a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, majoring in telecommunication and minoring in meteorology.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored Chris with several Emmy awards for excellence in broadcasting. Chris has also received recognition from The Associated Press, The Society of Professional Journalists, and the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.
When he's not working, Chris is hunting for a bargain getaway — ideally by air or sea.
