Faith in Action: Back to School Jam

Back to school is just around the corner, and a Tampa church is making sure all of it's kids are prepared to succeed.

Crossover Church on Fowler Avenue is holding it's 6th Annual Back-to-School Jam next Saturday. Each year, it's entire parking lot is turned into a carnival of fun, games, and food for the whole family. But this party has a pointed purpose. Crossover's congregation is committed to preparing every needy student with the materials necessary for a successful school year.

Students, Kindergarten-12th grade are sent home with a free backpack, stuffed with supplies requested by nearby schools.  This year, they are also holding a book swap. Kids can also get gently-used clothing, school uniforms, and a haircut to start off the school year in style.

The entire event is organized by church volunteers. The 1,000 backpacks are donated by Metropolitan Ministries and a local business, Morgan Air.

Crossover Church's Back-to-School Jam is next Saturday, August 22nd, from 11-2pm. Anyone in need of some extra help is welcome to attend.
