Pinellas county investigator sent to hospital

A child protection investigator with the Pinellas County Sheriff's office was injured last night, after her unmarked vehicle was hit in Clearwater.

The accident took place near the intersection of Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Belcher Road. That's where deputies say 23 year old Stella McEwen turned into the path of Investigator Chelsea Flint's unmarked 2010 Ford Fusion at a flashing yellow light. Unable to swerve, Flint crashed her car into the side of McEwen's Kia Soul.

Flint was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. McEwen was not injured, but received a citation for turning left into oncoming traffic.
