TAMPA (FOX 13) - Thousands of families across the Tampa Bay area will be struggling to provide meals and gifts for their children this holiday season. Metropolitan Ministries hopes to change that with help from the community.
On Giving Tuesday, November 27, the non-profit will begin collecting food and toy donations at their holiday tent in Tampa and their holiday center in Pasco County.
Metropolitan Ministries officials say they want to provide every family in need two simple toys for their kids for Christmas. Right now, they have 10,000 toys in their inventory. They say they need 30,000 more to make sure every child has a nice Christmas.
Metropolitan Ministries is also accepting online donations. They say gifts will be matched by another generous donor -- one toy becomes two toys.
