Metropolitan Ministries now accepting holiday donations

- Metropolitan Ministries assists thousands of families every holiday season, and this year there may be an uptick due to those affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria.  Many are starting over.

Evacuees from Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria are also seeking help this year.

"Families that are here from Puerto Rico have nothing with them," said Metropolitan Ministries' director of outreach and prevention services, James Dunbar.  "We're working with them in a special way to be able to serve them."

Metropolitan Ministries is planning to provide for at least 18,000 and they could use help for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The non-profit will begin accepting Thanksgiving food donations at their white holiday tent, on 905 North Governor Street in Tampa starting Monday, November 6.

It's tucked in just west of the North Nebraska Avenue and East Cass Street intersection.
