Every year, the FOX 13 Care Force tries to shine a spotlight on some of the work being done around the Tampa Bay area by local charities.

If you're looking for a way to lend a hand this holiday season, here are some groups who could use your help.

Buddy Baseball

Buddy Baseball is a non-competitive recreational league for boys and girls with special needs in Tampa, FL.  Each player is paired with a “Buddy” to assist the player as needed.  The league fosters friendships and breaks down barriers.

Metropolitan Ministries

Metropolitan Ministries cares for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in our community through services that alleviate suffering, promote dignity and instill self-sufficiency... as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ.  To see how to make a donation or volunteer, please click on the link above.

Special Operations Warrior Foundation

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation ensures full financial assistance for a post-secondary degree from an accredited two or four-year college, university, technical, or trade school; and offers family and educational counseling, including in-home tutoring, to the surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation also provides immediate financial assistance to severely wounded and hospitalized special operations personnel.

Children’s Cancer Center

The Children’s Cancer Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving families of children who have cancer or chronic blood disorders.  With over 24 support programs and services currently helping over 900 families, support is offered to all members of the family and is available throughout every step of their difficult journey.

Hope Children’s Home

Since 1968, Hope Children’s Home has cared for over 5,000 abandoned, abused, neglected, and orphaned children from newborn to 18 years old. Our children have come to us from not only the United States, but all over the world.  We do not receive government funding, but are supported 100% by individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations!

Starting Right Now (Teen Assistance)

Starting Right Now helps end homelessness for youth through one-on-one mentoring, providing a stable home, obtaining employment, teaching financial literacy/like skills and promoting educational achievement.

Humane Society Tampa Bay

Dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need.

Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida

Our ongoing mission is saving, protecting, and re-homing golden retrievers and golden retriever blends that have lost their home and family.
