Life hacks: Office supplies can organize more than your desk

From Pinterest to Reddit, you can find everything from storage hacks to better ways to peel an egg.

Type "life hacks" into an Amazon search and you'll get all sorts of products and how-to-hack books.

FOX 13's Sorboni Banerjee tested some of the most clicked organization hacks to see which ones actually cut the clutter.

Hack 1: Cutting boards - Stacking your cutting boards flat can take up lots of space, but stacking them vertically, like books on a shelf, can leave you with kitchen dominoes.

Instead, try using a desktop office file stacker to separate the cutting boards, keep them upright, and save space.

While you're looking through the office supplies, grab a couple of magazine holders.

They're great for organizing just about everything.

Lay a magazine holder on its side in the corner of a shelf, and then stack another one on top. Now you have the perfect place to store boxes of aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and sandwich baggies.

It also works great to organize your pasta!

Magazine holders also make great pantry organizers. They're great for keeping bagged goods like pasta neat and organized. Magazine holders are also the perfect size for canned goods and paper towels.

They're also great under the sink to keep cleaning products contained. A shower or dowel rod is another way to keep things tidy under the sink. Slip a roll of paper towels on for easy dispensing. Hang from it your cloth cleaning rag, rubber gloves, and even your cleaning products.

For smaller items, grab some plastic adhesive hooks and a plastic basket from the store where everything's a dollar and hang it on the inside of a cabinet. It can hold sponges, rubber bands or twist ties, or other little kitchen items that don't have a home.

Hooks can also tame your trash. To keep the bag from falling in the bin, hang the hooks upside down on the outside of the barrel, pierce the bag to anchor it in place.

Binder clips are another small item that makes a big difference.

They're great for clamping unwieldy cords and can double as a clip for a bag of chips.

Want to prop up your phone to check a recipe? Use binder clips to make a little phone holder. Clip a smaller binder clip inside a larger one so they're at an angle like a little beach chair - and the phone rests right in the space between them.

But if you don't have multiple sizes of binder clips around the house, use your sunglasses. Flip them upside down and cross the earpieces, but don't close them completely. Rest your phone horizontally in the cradle you've created.
