New Walmart app lets you shop without checking out

Walmart is rolling out a new app aimed at saving you time and frustration. It’s called Scan and Go.

“It is convenient,” Teresa Rutherford, a shopper at the Walmart on State Road 60 in Lake Wales told FOX 13. “You can do all your shopping and run and check out and you don’t have to stand in line for an
hour.”

Here's how it works. When you walk in, there will be a kiosk at the front of the store. Grab a few Scan and Go bags. You can use a Scan and Go wand available at the kiosk, or download the Walmart app and use your phone to shop.

As you walk down the aisles, scan whatever you want to buy. When you’re done, go to the self check-out and scan your phone. All your items will be tallied and the bill automatically deducted from your
bank account.

Somewhere along the line, if you use your phone you’ll be able to skip self check-out altogether.

So far, three Walmarts in the Bay Area are offering Scan and Go. By the end of the year, 100 Walmart across the country will have the system in place.
