TAMPA (FOX 13) - After cancelling his Tampa show earlier this week, music icon Elton John announced plans to reschedule the performance – nearly a year from now.
The star’s November 28 Farewell Yellow Brick Road show at Amalie Arena was among two cancelled in Florida due to what his representatives called a “serious ear infection.” Now, Amalie Arena says they’ll honor those tickets for the make-up performance scheduled for November 4, 2019.
"We always play 100% live and with impaired hearing and ear pain, I wouldn't have been able to deliver the performance that my fans deserve,” Elton John wrote on his social media channels. “I absolutely hate letting my fans down and it was an incredibly hard decision to make. Thank you for all your patience and support.”
“With our new date set for the show, we are confident that a sold out crowd will welcome him back to Tampa Bay with open arms next November,” senior vice president of event booking Kevin Preast added in a statement along with the announcement.
The Orlando show, which was canceled just a few minutes before its scheduled start, is rescheduled for March 18, 2019.
