There is a chance for you to see a rare breed of show horses in the Bay Area.

The Herrmanns’ Royal Lipizzan Stallions train during the winter season in Myakka City, and then spend the summer months traveling across the country to entertain crowds. Anyone can see them train during their time in Manatee County. All the Herrmanns ask for is at least a $5 donation.

The Lipizzans are considered to be an aristocratic breed, dating back to hundreds of years ago. A knight gifted the Herrmann family with the Lipizzan, and generations later they continue to breed them. Back then, the majestic horses were used in the battlefield. They are powerful, with a larger body and more muscle mass than other horse breeds.

They were used before gunpowder was invented by general, princes and kings. Their kick can knock you out. Nowadays, they perform.

Their training area is open Thursdays and Fridays at 3 p.m., and on Saturdays at 10 a.m. until April. For more information on how to visit them, head to the Herrmann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions' website.
