Salvation Army in need of holiday season donations

The holiday season is upon us and the Salvation Army is out in full force.

The Florida division is hoping to reach $2.4 million for the Tampa Bay area. As of Tuesday morning, they say they are halfway through the holiday season and have reach 43 percent of what they need.

Bell Ringers are fanned across the area raising money for those in need. People of all ages can become an official Bell Ringer. According to the Salvation Army, one hour of bell ringing will feed one person every five minutes. There are opportunities across the state to volunteer.

According to The Salvation Army, the funds are destined for community needs such as social services assistances, homeless shelters, disaster relief, children’s programs, rehabilitation services, anti-human trafficking and more.

There are other ways to donate, besides monetary donations. The organization accepts used furniture, clothing and other household items.
