Dove recalls holiday chocolates due to allergy threat

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Mars is recalling their Dove Chocolate Assortment Snowflake bags due to an allergy risk.

According to the FDA, the 24 oz. purple bag is marked correctly but some cases of the candy could include Snickers, Milky Way and Twix pieces, which all contain wheat, peanuts and/or eggs.

The FDA says the bags affected by the mistake were all sold between Sept. 19 and Dec. 1, 2015. The bags were only sold at one major retailer, but were shipped to over 30 states, including Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan.

The FDA did not say which retailer sold the bags.

So far, no allergic reactions have been reported.

Consumers who believe they have purchased this item and have allergy concerns, they should return this product to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Consumers with questions or concerns can call the FDA's toll free number at 1-800-551-0907.
