TAMPA (FOX 13) - Monthly pedicures are a relaxing indulgence for Shana Stokes. "I am a working mom, but I do take time for myself with manicures and pedicures. That is very important to me,” she explained.
But today's pedicure is very different because 12 days ago, Shana tried a product called Baby Foot. It comes with two disposable booties coated with a liquid gel. The long list of ingredients includes acids, plant extracts, and oils.
"Especially when you put socks on and walk around, it does feel a little squishy, kind of like your feet are in Jello in a way," explained Stokes.
An hour later, you wash off the magical mixture and wait. On the first four days, you'll wonder if it's working. "By day five, I noticed that I was peeling on the bottom of my feet. And then it worked its way to my toes and then the top of my feet."
Esthetician and nail specialist, Libby Schoeman-Boulton says she's been recommending Baby Foot to clients for more than a year. She was sold when she tried it on her own feet.
"I didn't really think it would have a tremendous before and after. But it was completely different than what I expected. My feet were just sloughing off after five or six days. It just kept coming and coming. It was amazing!"
Shana's skin is still peeling and she is happy with the results. "They actually do feel baby soft. Now I know why it’s called that."
Baby Foot doesn't recommend the product for people with open wounds, women who are pregnant or nursing, or with medical conditions like diabetes. There are lots of plant extracts, so be sure to read the label carefully if you have any allergies. You can buy it online for about $25.
