Service dog stolen from Milton training facility

- Dorie, a service puppy in training, went missing from a Milton training facility and her owners are asking the public to spread the word in hopes of finding her.

A Facebook page was created for the missing pup. According to a press release, the three-month old Golden Retriever puppy was taken from her kennel at Canine Assistants, a non-profit service-dog school in Milton. Leadership at the facility says it occurred between the evening of Sept. 3 and the early morning of Sept. 4.

“This is the first time in 25 years we have ever had a puppy stolen from our farm, and considering the facts, we can only assume the person(s) involved knew our system and they had a clear intention to take Dorie along with her service vest,” said Jennifer Arnold, Founder and Executive Director of Canine Assistants.

Dorie was last scene at the facility during the lock down procedure on Sept. 3. She was discovered missing, along with her equipment, the next morning. The puppy was reportedly wearing her puppy in training vest, harness and leash when she was taken.

The facility conducted an internal investigation into Dorie's disappearance, which confirmed that none of their 280 volunteers had the dog in their possession. Stricter security measures have been put in place at the facility.

Milton Police are investigating the incident. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Dorie’s safe return.

If you know anything about Dorie's whereabouts, please contact Canine Assistant at (770) 664-7178 ext. 201 or via email info@canineassistants.org.
