FHP Trooper rescues bald eagle on turnpike

- Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Julio Velez rescued an American Bald Eagle Tuesday morning on the Florida Turnpike, near St. Cloud.

A Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound on the Turnpike, near mile marker 230, when an eagle flew into the path of the Jeep.

The eagle struck the windshield and was stunned.  Trooper Velez rescued the eagle and placed him in his patrol car and animal rescue was called.

The eagle is now recovering at the Birds Of Prey Center, in Maitland. The driver was not injured.
