Where to get free sandwiches on National Sandwich Day

- Thursday is National Sandwich Day, a celebration of the delicious bread-enclosed food! 

Subway is celebrating by offering free sandwiches with any sub and drink. In addition, the chain said it will donate a meal to someone in need.

McAlister's Deli plans to offer all six of their club sandwiches for $4.

If you sign up for deals through Arby's website, you get a free roast beef classic with the purchase of a drink. 

Schlotzky's locations nationwide are offering a BOGO on sandwiches at participating restaurants. 

The sandwich is said to have been invented by John Montagu, fourth Earl of Sandwich (1718-1792), a British statesman and notorious profligate and gambler, who didn't want to leave the table to eat dinner.
