Florida sheriff calls on people to be ready to take on terrorists themselves

- Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey has gone viral.  In a nearly seven-minute video posted on Facebook, Sheriff Ivey says he wants Brevard County citizens to be prepared for a violent situation, especially an active shooter scenario.

Sheriff Ivey says, "The purpose of this video message is to tell our citizens that if a terrorist attack or active shooter scenario can happen in California, Texas, South Carolina, or Paris it can happen right here in our own back yard."

Sheriff Ivey says recent studies show Brevard county residents rank eighth in the area for having concealed carry permits.  He wants people to take that responsibility seriously, and be alert.  "If you're a person that is legally licensed to carry a gun, now is the time to realize you, and you alone, may be the first line of defense for you, your family and others around you in a terrorist or active shooter based scenario," he says.

As for those who might argue that more guns on the streets are not a good thing, Sheriff Ivey says, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.  This is about saving your life."
