Two homes evacuated near possible sinkhole

Two homes have been evacuated near a possible sinkhole in Valrico.

The hole opened in the 4700 block of Copper Canyon Boulevard.

A resident discovered it while standing in his neighbor's yard, saying he sank into a soft spot in the ground.

It's not clear whether the recent rain caused the hole, but Hillsborough Fire Rescue crews are continuing to keep an eye on the area.

Officials have not yet said when the families will be allowed to return home.

FOX 13 will continue with updates on this developing story.
