MIAMI (FOX 13) - After only two months on the job, a store clerk who brought her child to work with her was held at gunpoint by a pair of suspected thieves.
WSVN 7 News reported the robbery at Christiana Grocery store Tuesday in Midtown Miami. The woman, who asked not to be identified, told WSVN she feared the worst.
"He told me to put the baby on the ground and he would shoot the baby," she said.
Miami-Dade police said surveillance video showed two suspects pretending to shop in the store. When the two approached the counter to pay for a bag of chips, one of them pointed a small frame firearm at her and her infant son.
She told police one of the suspects told her to put her son on the chair next to her. The suspect then pointed the gun at the infant and yelled, "give me everything you got or I'll shoot him!"
The woman told police she gave the suspects money from the register. The suspects also took the register tray and envelopes containing money. The suspects ordered the woman to the floor and they both ran.
Meanwhile, the victim said she was just happy she and her son were unharmed physically. Mentally, she said she is still shaken up.
"I can't believe this is happening to me today. It is something you think will never happen to you and it did so it is very surreal," she said. "I was just scared. I was thinking the worst. I was thinking the worst would happen and I was praying for it to be over with."
