11-year-old credited with help in arrest of accused porch pirate

- Lake County deputies arrested a man for allegedly stealing packages off doorsteps in a Clermont neighborhood.

Carlos Aldolfo Moreno-Marquez, 34, remained behind bars on Sunday.

Deputies credit an 11-year-old girl for helping in the investigation.

“I told my mom that I saw the man stealing the box and she called my dad. My dad followed the car and took a picture of the license plate,” she said.

The girl's father got the tag from the car as the thefts were occurring.

Deputies say Moreno-Marquez admitted to three different package thefts in the area.

Neighbor Jennifer Lutes is thankful her neighbor was observant.

“She sprung into action and we are just thrilled to have a young neighbor, a young woman, like this living next door. See something, say something was really applicable here,” she said.

Moreno-Marquez is facing grand theft charges.
