Van crushed after metal flies off overpass

- A driver is lucky to be alive after a piece of metal flies off of an overpass and lands on top of his vehicle.

Florida Highway Patrol says a semi-truck hauling scrap metal was traveling westbound on SR 528 exit ramp to westbound I-4.

The truck driver lost control and hit a guardrail and overturned. As the truck overturned, a piece of metal fell off of the overpass and onto the exit ramp below, where another vehicle was traveling, said troopers.

The metal fell directly on top of the van, crushing the roof. FHP says the driver of the van suffered only minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was ticketed for careless driving.
