Boy loses hand in fireworks blast; teens arrested

An arrest has been made in a fireworks accident that severely injured two children, maiming 9-year-old Faizon Brown.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly says a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody Wednesday for the burglary at a temporary fireworks shop back in July. The Sheriff's Office has also helped Faizon with treatment.

"We were able to get them help with the Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa. We drove the parents and the young man over there, so he's now receiving treatment," Sheriff Staly tells FOX 35.

A shy Faizon tells FOX 35 that he's apprehensive about getting a prosthetic hand.

"I just want something over my hand, because they're going to have to cut me if I get a prosthetic."

Faizon's mother says he'll go back to Shriners for treatment in six months. The Sheriff's Office says more arrests may follow.
