Police in Delray Beach, Florida responded to a home where a mother, reportedly on drugs, had taken her small children onto the second-story ledge.

It happened May 19. Body camera video shows an officer approach as onlookers try to calm the mother and children.

Police said that the 23-year-old woman was acting erratically and was standing on a narrow ledge over the garage of a townhouse about 15-20 feet above the ground.

With her were a one-year-old boy and three-year-old girl.

Two officers can be seen in the video going through the house to go out onto the ledge. The woman is heard asking to see the officers’ badges and saying that they are not real police.

Police said the children were taken into the custody of Florida’s Department of Children and Families.

Their mother was committed to a mental health facility and may face charges upon her release, they said.
