The Florida Highway Patrol said five people died and another 25 injured after a tractor trailer hit a bus filled with passengers in Wakulla County Saturday.

FHP Capt. Jeffrey Bissainthe told media there were about 35 people on the bus and and come from Georgia. The Tallahassee Democrat reported the passengers were Haitian migrant workers.

The bus was almost unrecognizable after the driver apparently failed to stop at a blinking red light and drove into a tractor trailer, according to FHP. Both vehicles went onto the shoulder, hit a utility pole and caught fire.

The American Red Cross was on the scene to help the victims.

Bissainthe said families of the victims were still being contacted and the investigation into the crash would be ongoing.
