Melbourne man wants to build world's largest water park

- A man in Melbourne is looking for support for a project that would dramatically change the face of the Space Coast.

Angelo Turiano wants to build the world's largest water park and amusement complex in Brevard County complete with a hotel, casino, botanical gardens and aquarium.

All of the sites would be tied together by a 60 mile long monorail system. Turiano's plan would also require the relocation of Patrick Air Force Base in order to pull it off.

The project would cost an estimated 20 billion dollars. Turiano, himself, admits that his plan will likely not happen in his lifetime.

"The federal government, state government and the local communities, they have to be all in agreement and that's a tough one," Turiano said. "The other thing is financially we have to raise money, but I don't think that's a big problem if people see the beauty of this. And the third is all the people who will oppose it."

Turiano says the project could be funded by potential developers and individual investors. Turiano sent his proposal to nearly two dozen local and state lawmakers, but every official who responded has rejected the plan.
