Miami officer caught on video hitting daughter at school

A Miami-Dade police officer has been arrested after police say he was caught on camera hitting his 14-year-old daughter in the school office.

Police say Miami-Dade police officer Raymond Rosario was called to Pinecrest Cover Preparatory Academy in April because his daughter reportedly disrespected her teacher.

Once he was in the office, surveillance cameras show him hitting his daughter with a belt, slapping her, and then punching her in the face.

No one in the video appears to stop the alleged assault, but school officials called Child Protective Services afterward and released this statement to WSVN: "The parent, who is a police officer and who often visited the school in uniform, surrendered himself to authorities. The person witnessing the act is an expectant mother who was unsure if the parent had a weapon. She says that at the time, she feared for the safety of the victim as well as that of her unborn child.”

Rosario turned himself in and now faces charges of felony child abuse.

He's been relieved of his duties, but is still being paid, according to WSVN.
