Panther attacks, kills Naples family's cat

- Residents in a Naples neighborhood are on-edge after surveillance cameras caught the moment a panther attacked and killed a family's cat in their driveway.

There is now a sign in Golden Gate Estates warning neighbors about panthers and other wild animals. *Some may find the following video disturbing.

The attack happened Sunday. The cat's owner says she just adopted River two months ago.

“I saw how she was and I saw she was in danger, that’s why I brought her home,” the owner, who did not want to be named, told WINK News. “The last thing that I want or expected was for her to have a bad ending.”

The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission set up the sign at the entrance of the neighborhood after the attack was reported.

Anyone who sees a panther is advised to contact the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission at 863- 648-3200 or report it on its website.
