A manhunt is on for a Florida man, suspected of sexual assault and murder involving at least one teenaged girl, police say.

Earlier this week, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office announced their investigation into a homicide that occurred on South Pine Street in Bushnell. The agency received a call from Tavares police requesting a well-being check on a juvenile female believed to be living on that street. When deputies entered the home, they found the 16-year-old dead.

Deputies said Peavy’s vehicle was found in the 2500 block of North 13th Street in Fort Pierce, but left the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. He could still be in the area.

St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office posted a wanted flyer on its Facebook account on Wednesday announcing Peavy is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Peavy is wanted for sexual battery, false imprisonment, murder and kidnapping. He is described as a black male, 6'1 tall, weighing 200 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. he has tattoos on his right arm and back.

If he is seen, law enforcement officials advise you to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Singletary at (772) 579-6545. It’s possible Peavy has since cut his dreadlocks off.
