Georgia teen makes pick for TB Bucs in 2019 NFL Draft

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Georgia teen got the honor of a lifetime Thursday night in Nashville naming the first round draft pick for his favorite team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Despite 19-year-old Kacey Reynolds living in the heart of Falcons country, the Maysville, Georgia teen is a devout, lifelong Bucs fans.

“I knew it was something I could never spend money to do,” Reynolds said. “It will be a really great moment, but it’s going to be a really nervous moment.”

Bucs wide receiver Mike Evans sent a video message to Reynolds asking for his help in the draft.

“I was completely shocked when they played the video of Mike Evans and he said my name,” Reynolds said. “That was the minute I realized my wish was coming true.”

Thursday night, Reynolds, who has been battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, approached the podium with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell just before 9 p.m. and after an introduction read the team’s first pick of the year in the draft.

The Bucs picked LSU’s linebacker Devin White, the Butkus Award winner who led the SEC in tackles.

Coach Bruce Arians, an offensive mastermind, went with someone who is the kind of playmaker the unit has lacked for several years and had the highest percentage of pass pressures in FBS last year.

Reynolds's night was thanks to the Bucs and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
