Traffic has been snarled through Central Florida this week as South Floridians flee Irma’s path.

In Tampa, traffic started building on Wednesday night on I-75 northbound, and rest stops were filled with evacuees traveling north, a news report said.

Governor Rick Scott suspended tolls across the state to assist with evacuation procedures ahead of the hurricane. Evacuation orders have already been issued in the Florida Keys and areas of Miami-Dade County with more expected.

And in southern Georgia, traffic built on Thursday as Floridians headed north to evacuate with the threat of Hurricane Irma growing behind them.

Traffic was three times its normal amount at the Florida-Georgia border by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, a news report said. In Tifton, several miles north of the border, hotels were already full and the two Walmarts were without gas.
