Koala hides on axle, goes for 10 mile ride

ADELAIDE, Australia (Fox 32 News)  - An unlikely hitchhiker went for a ten-mile ride in Australia.

A driver in Australia says he found a koala clinging to the axle of his four-wheel drive vehicle.

The driver says he stopped the vehicle after hearing cries coming from the traumatized animal. The female koala crawled into the wheel arch while the car was parked in the hills on the outskirts of Adelaide, the state capital of South Australia.

Emergency crews took the wheel off and helped a wildlife rescue worker free the animal.
