The founder of a well-known legal and medical referral service found himself behind bars this morning. Gary Kompothecras, the "Gary" behind 1-800-ASK-GARY, was arrested for DUI.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office arrest records show Kompothecras, 57, was being held on a $500 bond after being arrested at 1:40 a.m. Thursday.

FOX 13's Kimberly Kuizon reports that deputies pulled the Sarasota chiropractor over on southbound Interstate 75 after he allegedly sped by a deputy at 100 mph in a silver Porsche.

The arrest report states Kompothecras admitted he'd had some wine at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, then failed field sobriety tests before refusing to provide a breath sample.

1-800-ASK-GARY is a personal injury referral service known for its seemingly ubiquitous television ads and billboards. The concert venue at the Florida State Fairgrounds was briefly known as the "1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre" after the company bought the naming rights.

Kompothecras is also known in the Bay Area for helping develop the MTV reality show 'Siesta Key' which featured his son and other happenings at the family's waterfront mansion.
