11 teens arrested in Eckerd Youth Camp riot

- A fight broke out at the Eckerd Youth Camp in Brooksville, leading to 11 arrests.

On Sunday before 9 p.m., the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the facility at 201 Culbreath Road after receiving a report of a “physical disturbance.”

Employees reported a fight broke out between at least a dozen juveniles. When deputies arrived, they said they went back to their dorms, but after speaking with staff members, 10 juveniles, and one 18-year-old were arrested. All face a charge of inciting a riot.

The teens were transported to the Hernando County Detention Center. There were no reported injuries.
