FHP searches for hit-and-run driver after pedestrian hit, killed

- The Florida Highway Patrol said it's searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway near Medical Drive.

Troopers said the pedestrian, identified as 40-year-old Eric Flodin, was trying to cross Dale Mabry Highway when he was struck. Flodin had just moved to the Tampa Bay area from Illinois, according to investigators.

The driver who hit Flodin fled the scene, FHP said. The vehicle involved is believed to be an orange Dodge Dart with damage around the front left headlight and driver's side mirror.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 813-631-4020.
