Family of 4 injured in Sarasota house fire

- A family of four has been rushed to the hospital following an early morning house fire.

The Sarasota County Fire Department says the fire broke out at a home in the 3200 block of 27th Parkway, injuring at least two adults and two children-- including a 3-year-old --who were all inside at the time.

A pet Chihuahua was also found at the scene. They say it has a microchip, and will remain in the care of Animal Services until it can return home.

A state fire marshal and officials from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office have joined the investigation.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

FOX 13 will have updates as they become available.
