- A midmorning crash involving an SUV and a Hillsborough County school bus closed State Road 60 for more than two hours.

Investigators say Louis Nieves was driving west when he slid more than 100 feet and crashed into the back of a school bus that was picking up students.

"I heard the brakes. I heard the tires slide and he went right up under the bus," Donnie Sullivan told FOX 13 on Wednesday.

Nieves, a woman, and a 7-year-old girl were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in serious condition.

There were five students on the bus when the crash occurred. One was treated. A spokesman for the Hillsborough County School District said the other four students were not injured.

An eyewitness says there were five students on the side of the road waiting in front of The Palms at Dover Mobile Home Park. They  who were waiting to get on the bus. The eyewitness says they took off running when the accident happened.

The students were on their way to Turkey Creek Middle School.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Nieves was cited for careless driving.
