Gator believed to have bitten dog captured

- An alligator that is believed to have attacked a retired police dog in Palmetto has been captured.

The gator measured out to more than 8 feet long!

The attack happened April 20th.

"Arek" -- the retired K-9 -- was running around the yard of an officer who's also his owner, when he ventured into some bushes.

That's when the alligator bit his leg.

Luckily, Arek was quickly bandaged up and put on antibiotics, and is expected to be okay.

You can see by these pictures, he's not afraid to get up close to the gator.
