DAVENPORT (FOX 13) - A couple of guys intentionally rammed a van, carjacked them and took off, according to Polk County detectives. Now, those detectives are trying to find the suspects who may be armed and dangerous.
Investigators said, around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jose Pena and Josiah Pena Nunez were stopped at the light at Ronald Reagan Parkway and Pine Tree Trail in Davenport when a van bumped into their two-door Nissan.
When the Penas got out to check the damage, detectives said one of the guys in the van jumped out, held them up at gunpoint, and took off in their car.
Even though Donna Wood, with the Polk Sheriff's Office, said she didn't know of any similar incidents in the county, they happen across the county.
"It is not an unusual type of carjacking," Wood said.
Law enforcement says, if this happens to you, and you're uncomfortable for any reason, call them immediately.
Meanwhile, suspects in this case were wearing all black, including black baseball caps and gloves. One of the them was an approximately 30-year-old black male, about 6-feet tall and 170 pounds, with no facial hair. He was armed with a black handgun.
The second was a, approximately 30-year-old black male, about 6'2" and 150 pounds, with a goatee.
Anyone who knows something about what happened should call Detective E. Angulo at (863) 298-6926, or (863) 298-6200.
