HCSO patrol car involved in fatal crash

- A deputy was injured in a Hernando County crash that left another motorist dead Thursday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened on Cortez Boulevard at Fort Dade Avenue around 6 a.m. when the driver of a Hyundai ran a stop sign and collided with the Hernando County sheriff's deputy's patrol car.

The view from SkyFOX showed the damaged HCSO patrol car, debris scatted in the road, and then a severely damaged vehicle across the roadway.

Officials say the deputy has minor injuries, but the driver of the other car did not survive.
