Police: Winter Haven student lied about gun

- Police responded to the Winter Haven High School campus this morning after a student said he saw someone with a gun.

The school was put on lockdown, while Further, Brigham Academy, and Denison Middle School were placed on heightened security.

Winter Haven police and Polk County deputies searched the school and found nothing.

"Police have confirmed the report of a gun on campus was false," a police department spokesperson offered.  "The investigation is continuing, however there is a student in custody and will be charged for making the false report."
