$5,000 reward offered for information on Avon Park hit-and-run

- A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who hit a little girl and drove off last month.

The Highland's County Sheriff's Office said detectives are still trying to find the driver of a vehicle that hit 3-year-old Brianna Fuentes on North Lake Avenue in Avon Park in the early evening of April 23.

Brianna was with her mother and some other family, trying to cross the street, when she was hit. Detectives believe the vehicle was a 2006 or 2007 model year, white, four-door Chevrolet Malibu. Witnesses said it had tinted windows, standard wheels and rims, a sun roof and spoiler.

In order to be eligible for the $5,000 reward, the information must come through the Crimestoppers Tip Line. People with information may remain anonymous and still be eligible for the cash reward. Call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477), or at www.heartlandcrimestoppers.com. Anonymity is guaranteed.

Anyone with information on the vehicle may also contact the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and speak with Deputy Mike Weed at 863-402-7200.
