1 dead after 2 motorcycles, van crash on Florida Ave.

- Two motorcycles and a van crashed on N Florida Avenue, just east of Lake Magdalene, killing at least one person early Saturday evening. 

The crash happened on N Florida Ave. at its intersection with Palm Drive. North Florida Ave. was closed in both directions after the crash.

Florida Highway Patrol said the van was stopped, waiting to turn onto southbound Florida Ave. from Palm Dr. FHP said the van's driver did not see two motorcycles headed south on Florida Ave. 

FHP said the motorcycles were driving "at a high rate of speed."

When the van turned left onto Florida Ave., into the same lane as the motorcycles, the driver of one of the motorcycles hit the front left of the van and the other motorcycle hit the back left.

The driver of the motorcycle that hit the van's front, 19-year-old Cody Layne Newsom of Kissimmee, died at the scene.

The van's driver, 69-year-old Manuel Perez of Tampa, had minor injuries. 

The driver of the other motorcycle, 20-year-old Connor Waldron of Kissimmee, had serious injuries.
