15-year-old student hit by car

- A morning traffic accident sent a 15-year-old girl to the hospital in Tampa Wednesday.

The accident happened just before 6:30 a.m., not far from Leto High School.

According to preliminary information released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office, the teen stepped into the path of a car on Linebaugh Avenue west of Hennesey Place.

The driver struck the girl, who was transported to the hospital for treatment of what “appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries”, an HCSO spokesperson said.

Authorities reported the teen was not in a crosswalk when she was struck.

FOX  13 confirmed she is a student with Hillsborough County Public Schools.

We will continue with updates as they become available.
