Armed, dangerous suspect threatens shootout with Pasco deputies

- An armed and dangerous suspect, loose in the swampy forest near forced Safety Town, has vowed he won't go down without a gunfight. Meanwhile, deputies are searching from land, water and overhead for the wanted man.

Pasco County sheriff's deputies said the search began after Brandon Goggins led them on a chase down State Road 52, while driving a white BMW, which was reported stolen from Factory Auto Direct in Lutz. After abandoning the car near Hays Road, Goggins ran.

The manhunt was still underway Thursday evening and residents were being asked to stay inside. Reverse 911 was sent out and neighbors prepared themselves in case they came face-to-face with the wanted man.

Christina Scull, who lives within a mile of where Goggins disappeared, told FOX 13 News her firearm was by her side, just to be safe.

"That's my home protection. I won't give that up and I'll be protected if he comes by my family friends or neighborhood," Scull said.

Dive teams were sent to ponds in the area to help find evidence of Goggins' location.

Deputies closed State Road 52 just west of the Suncoast Parkway after the pursuit reaching speeds in the triple-digits, which ended near Safety Town. No children were there at the time.

"We take this very seriously. He's been involved in a lot of crime. He involves himself in a white supremacist group," Sheriff Nocco told reporters Thursday.

Deputies said Goggins was wanted for outstanding warrants. He faces charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and grand theft.

Sheriff Chris Nocco said he hoped to end the situation peacefully, but Goggins had threatened to engage in shootout.

"Our army is much bigger than yours. You're by yourself," Nocco said, adding if Goggins wants a war, that's what he would get, and he would lose.
