First Bay Area Pride celebration underway in Polk Co.

- The first Bay Area Pride celebration since the Orlando massacre is underway in Lakeland.

Members and friends of the LGBT community packed Munn Park Saturday afternoon for the second annual Polk Pride.

Live entertainment, bounce houses and rainbows at every turn added to the festive feel, though the previous week's attack wasn't far from anyone's mind.

"This is very cathartic for all of us to be out here together and to not be cowering in fear or hiding in the closet because we've been struck by tragedy, but to come together and show that we're still here," said Alison Foley-Rothrock. "We're loud, we're proud and we're not going away."
