Missing woman found dead in Lakeland

- After her body was found near a Lakeland intersection, detectives are trying to figure out why a 52-year-old woman died.

Wendy Norman was reported missing Wednesday evening by her mother, who had searched the neighborhood without finding her.  Deputies had no luck finding her either.

Early this afternoon, Norman's body was found near railroad tracks, not far from the intersection of    Maine Avenue and Dawn Heights Drive.  Investigators said the cause of her death was not immediately clear.

Now, deputies want to know how she died.  If anyone saw Norman any time after 3 p.m. Wednesday, they are asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 863-298-6200.
