West Shore reopens three weeks ahead of schedule

- A road closure that changed the route for drivers in south Tampa for about a month has opened again, three weeks early.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn was on hand to remove the barricades on West Shore Boulevard as it reopened Friday morning between West Bay Way and Beachway Drives.

Crews closed that portion of the roadway to replace utilities and draining culverts in the area.

The project was supposed to last until July, but it wrapped three weeks early.
