Deliveries to police with messages: 'We have your back'

- Workers from a Clearwater pizzeria stopped by the police headquarters Friday with some pizzas and a message to officers: "We have your back."

The pizza boxes were filled with pizza from Rizzoli's Pizza along with messages hand-written on the boxes. Among the many messages were "Thank you for your service," "We stand together," and the definition of the word "hero."

"Inside the boxes were special hand-written messages about how they support, respect and love their police officers in Clearwater," Clearwater police wrote on its Facebook page."'We have your back," was one of our favorite ones. Our officers, civilians and entire police department were touched by the generous gesture of Rizzoli's," the post said.

There was also a showing of support to officers at the Bradenton Police Department, which was delivered donuts, pies, fruit and other goodies, with messages of thanks and "I back the blue."

The gestures of support comes after the deadly ambush of police officers at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas Thursday night.

Since the attack, mayors and police chiefs around the country have been publicly addressing the concerns over safety of the public and of its officers, including here in the Tampa Bay area.

12 police officers were injured in the attack. Five of them have died.
