PHFR: Someone's posing as a firefighter trying to get info about children

- Fire officials in Pinellas County are warning people about a scam involving someone posing as a firefighter trying to get information about children.

According to Palm Harbor Fire Rescue, there is a person presenting himself as a firefighter and going to homes saying that he is trying to get children's information into an Amber Alert system.

So far, this has been reported in Dunedin and Clearwater.

Fire officials say no firefighters go door to door asking for information and that this is a scam. They also say firefighers will always have proper identification on them.

Anyone who comes in contact with this person should contact police right away.
