Driver arrested after crashing into Sarasota home

- Deputies in Sarasota said they arrested a driver after he crashed into a home.

Investigators said the crash happened at a home on the 2000 block of Kai Drive.

Ryan Gerken, 29, was driving an Oldsmobile SUV when he struck the car port and drove through an exterior wall.

A resident was inside at the time, but she was not injured.

When deputies arrived, they said Gerken was uncooperative. Deputies had to use a Taser on Gerken after a brief chase on foot.

He was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash with damage and resisting arrest.
